Lesson 1 - What is a Network Analyzer?

A vector network analyzer measures RF and microwave device properties by sending signals and calculating S-parameters from reflected and transmitted signals.

Lesson 2 - Transmission Lines and S-parameters

S-parameters describe a transmission line’s electrical properties. They are used to characterize the reflection and transmission of signals at a port.

Lesson 3 - Network Analyzer Calibration

A VNA must be calibrated before it can be used. Calibration ensures that the VNA is measuring the correct values for the S-parameters.

Lesson 4 - Narrow vs. Wide IF Bandwidth

The IF bandwidth of a VNA is its frequency range. Narrow IF bandwidth offers more accuracy but lower dynamic range, while wide IF bandwidth is less accurate but has higher dynamic range.

Lesson 5 - Increasing Dynamic Range

The dynamic range of a VNA is the difference between the smallest and largest signals it can measure accurately. There are many ways to increase dynamic range.
